    I am trying to see how programs for cdroms use reed-solomon coding. I looked in the site lxr.linux.no , but couldnt get anything there, too much details present. So could sm1 give me the correct link for this, or give me some idea of how its done?-thanx.

    Recommend you do a google search for "reed solomon coding", plenty of information there.

    Also, please don't use texting shorthand, not all us old fogies understand it! (sm1)

    One of the better tutorials on this subject dealing with Cd's can be found here;

    Reed-Solomon Codes and CD Encoding

    Other well known uses for the Reed- Solomon codes include .par files which are heavily used in the binary news groups.
