    hi.

    I have a linux source(linux-2.4.1) which is for intel . i am using powerpc compiler and i need to compile this linux source for powerpc. i did cross compilation, but it dint workout well.can anyone tell me how to do it.

    Argggh!

    Why not just download the Debian for the Power PC? I run it on my G4 mac mini.

    {security through obscurity}

    It installs easily, etc.

    Dunno why you need to do this, particularly with such an old kernel release, but it's not going to be easy. I've been a systems engineer for 25 years, and I wouldn't take it on. Good place to start learning:

    Yeah. Debian seems to be pretty good for non-intel processors and embedded systems. I've been using Etch (2.6.21 kernel) on an embedded ARM processor system recently with really good results.
    Sometimes, real fast is almost as good as real time.
