    NimbleX load error

On my first attempt at Linux, I am trying to boot NimbleX from a cd on my Asus PC.

I get a message saying "Grub loading" then the installation stops with a report 'Graphics file "(cd)/boot/grub/message"missing. Press any key to continue.

Any attempt to continue is foiled by 'Error23: while parsing number'

I have downloaded the 2008 version and burnt to disk twice thinking it was a corrupt download, but the installation succeeds on an older Gigabyte machine.

Is this a known error, and can anyone offer any pointers?

23 : "Must load Linux kernel before initrd"

This error is returned if the initrd command is used before loading a Linux kernel. Similar to the above error, it only makes sense in that case anyway.
Above is for Grub 23 message. From GRUB Error Messages

    /boot/grub/message"missing
Makes me wonder if /boot/grub/menu.lst is missing. But you say

the installation succeeds on an older Gigabyte machine.
So the menu.lst I guess is there.

Is this a known error, and can anyone offer any pointers?
I don't know if it is a known error. What kind of machine are you trying to boot the live cd on? Also did you do of md5sum check on the downloaded iso file?
