I need help downloading a Linux Distro!

I don't know if I only need the 3 ISO images that're last in the list and which is the installer.

    MD5SUMS
    MD5SUMS.sign
    SHA1SUMS
    SHA1SUMS .sign
    Binary-1.iso
    Binary-2.iso
    DVD-1.iso

Would you know of a free Windows-based disc burning software that allows the disk to be left after use, i.e. allows writing on it again.

It would be easier for someone to answer if we knew which distro it is that you are wanting to download. Judging only by your file listing, I'd say that the two binary ISO files are probably the CD version of which disk number 1 is probably required for an installation and disk number 2 could be required as well, or it might be extra software only. The DVD ISO is probably the full DVD version of the distribution. The other files are for checking the integrity of the downloaded ISO files.

You can find a good HowTo article for downloading, and burning ISO files here, along with a listing of burning software.

the one thing you need to do is download the choice of the distro.
If you are doing the cd version you would download the iso for the binary 1 and 2
but you need to burn them to cd as an iso.
you can also download the md5 sum and sha1 sum to check the integrity as ozar has stated.
If you are using windows to download the iso files then you need a program called infra recorder it is a free iso burner and its easy to use.
many linux distros can burn an iso file easily
