    Hi and Welcome !

    Gnome and KDE are two Desktop Environments.
    These differ in default look, Menu Navigation, File and system preferences and a few other options. These differences are cosmetic only because you can change default behavior easily.

    There are a lot of other DEs available and you can install DE of your choice in most of distros.
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
