Hello, and welcome to the forums!

Linux works just fine with HDMI devices. I've used various video cards and computer monitors that have HDMI inputs without any issues, and have never had to install any special drivers.

HDMI audio support has just been beefed up in the newly released 2.6.34 kernel. At least openSUSE has been keeping their kernels pretty closely aligned with 2.6.34 development, so stuff like USB 2.0 audio is supported. There are also some pre-2.6.34 kernels available for Ubuntu.
kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.34-rc7-lucid/ is the latest one I have running.

Thanks for your replies. So this means HDMI drivers are present in kernel and has no problems with video/audio (using HDMI).
