[SOLVED] Mint 9 Menu Options Does not allow for Accessing Win. 7

I am new to Linux, so that you know. I managed to install Mint 9 on a Windows 7 system. It works except for one thing: at the Menu options, Windows 7 is listed at the bottom, Mint 9 at the top. I can log into Mint 9 but all keys are frozen. When I boot with Super Grub and other discs, I get the same result. All keys are frozen.

Is there a way to edit my boot menu so that I can get dual boot.

I know I can use Win. 7 disc, repair, then re-install Windows' mbr, but that would give me back my Win. 7 but no Mint 9. (By the way, I cannot install Ubuntu 10.4 or any other Linux; ;so far it works only with Mint 9).

I would appreciate any help. Thanks kindly.

    Hi and Welcome !

Do you have USB Keyborad and mouse? Try to toggle Legacy USB Support in BIOS.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Shortly after I built this rig several months ago, for unknown reasons, when I tried to access the Bios, I was unable to do so. Relatedly (?) sometimes it won't even boot from CD or DVD, as though the optical device is no good. Now and then, it would load the DVD! I'm not sure if I put my Win. 7 disc in there now whether it would boot with it! I don't want to do that yet; if I succeed getting my Win. 7 back, I would lose Mint 9. I took me almost a dozen times before Mint 9 was installed!
(I use to have Ubuntu 9.04 and when I tried to install 10.4, the whole thing stopped working and I had to reinstall Win. 7 to restore functionality. This is a mess.)

A few months ago I put in Mint 9 disc. It won't boot with the disc!

I appreciate your help. Any other alternative? Thanks.

    PS
I do have a another keyboard with USB, but no USB mouse. Currently it uses wireless keyboard and wireless mouse.

I would suggest that you try the other keyboard for testing purposes....just to see if it will work. I think the problem is obvious, the wireless mouse/Kboard is not being activated during the boot stage. This may also be why you can't access the BIOS. You can set it to boot Windows instead of Mint, if you want.
If you can boot Mint, open a terminal window and issue this command please.
    Code:
    sudo cat /boot/grub/menu.lst
    Post the output here.

Since everything is frozen except for Mint menu option, I cannot get to Win. 7, even though it is listed on the menu option. I can get to Win 7 only by installing Win 7 disc and repair mbr and boot.

I have changed the keyboard and mouse to usb

    devils Casper and Mike:

Thanks a million. Following your advice I just switched to USB keyboard and mouse and reboot, and to my surprise I press DEL key and I got into the Bios.
Made changes per your suggestions, now at the Mint Menu option, I can move to all the options listed, including Win. 7.

Thank you so much for your help.

Alright, glad you got it sorted to your liking. You might want to do some investigating to see if there is a suitable workaround for detecting wireless devices during boot up
