    Linux on Powerbook G4

    What linux OS would be best for my powerbook G4 12" with 512mbs of memory, 80 gb harddrive, and a 1.3ghz G4 processor? I am a newbie at Linux so I would also like one that is also easy to install.

    For a ppc I would try either Gentoo, if you have an active connection, they have a live cd install that dls many files and settings, or, but I have not seen this used yet, if you wanna go slackware there is a version called slackintosh...

    I agree, go with Gentoo, no long ISO's to download.

    I don't think FC2 will work on a Mac, you need a PPC type of linux such as Yellow Dog as copycon sugested, to work on a Mac. You can only get FC2 in i386 and x86_64 types.

    hope this helps;

    It seems that card is not supported under linux see this

    http://www.hyperborea.org/journal/ar...reme-vs-linux/

    yellow dogs site says this one is

    Netgear 54Mbps Wireless PC Card WG511 (under the 2.6 kernel).

    If you want to run Linux on that machine it will have to be a PPC based distro of which Fedora is not
