KDE and sound ?
I recently upgraded from mint 7 gnome, to mint 8 KDE, I just now turned on my computer ( groggy 4 in the morning ) and got a weird ( scary ? ) message:: a box popped up with: " KDE has noticed a sound device was removed, what do you want KDE to do, and it actually has a picture of a soundcard...I sure did not remove or change a sound card, I should have got a screen shot of that box, but just ignored it....any ideas what/why this happened ? ths sound seems to be working fine right now. thanks

Yes, I've seen the message that you refer to under KDE4.
It's been awhile, though, and if I remember correctly an update along the way made it go away. Like in your case, just ignoring it left things working but it was kind of annoying seeing that message and the information box pop up now and then.oz
