Depending on how your machine is setup, it's usually going to be accomplished by entering either sudo, or su in a terminal:

    Code:
    sudo
    or...

    Code:
    su
In both cases, you must enter the proper password when it's requested.

More on sudo vs root logins here:

    http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/ubu...in-ubuntu.html

More on both commands by checking the manual page for each:

    Code:
    man sudo
    or...

    Code:
    man su
    oz

I believe the asus eeepc comes with xandros as the Linux distribution. Take a look at the site below to see if anything looks familiar. Has lots of information on how to use it if this is the OS.

thanks for the web site, i read the web site above and im trying to update adobe and it says to use .APT-get, well when i try to downnload it from adobe.com i gives me this error.

firefox doesnt know how to open this address because, the protocol(APT) isn't associated with any programs.

My Documents Folder is where I would download it to when I had Xandros. Don't run it anymore though.
