    Suggest me medium weight Linux distros

    I have an old PC Pentium III 1000 Mhz . With 256 ram and 20 GB hard disk .
    I have Ubuntu (which runs very slow ) Lubuntu (currently using ) Puppy Linux and DSL .

    Suggest me distros which can run normally and also have good looks and mature bulit.

    Antix would fly with those specs. Debian testing in sources list.

    You might like LMDE also.

    256M isn't enough to run what I would consider medium weight

    I don't think XFCE would even run well on 256 with other apps going

    with that little memory if you can't upgrade it, you should bite the bullet and install a lightweight WM so you can run the other apps without a problem

    I tend to agree ...

    Option 1 - look for a light weight distro you like
    Option 2 - look at a build what you want distro

    Personally I go with option 2 and pick something binary based ... otherwise you will find compile times become an issue

    Debian or Arch would do the job with a WM like fluxbox, IceWM or something similar. Try to select light weight applications also ...

    I have a laptop with 256MB RAM and run Arch on it with IceWM ... firefox and openoffice take a bit of time to load

    Lubuntu is a good choice, or you might try mint lxde edition.
