How to install flash for complete noob

    Hi all!

I had to wipe the hdd on my computer and couldn't find a windows disk. I saw this Pedora 9 disk so i decided to use it. I've set everything up but just can't seem to get adobe flash to work.

I've read many posts and read all the instructions on the Pedora wiki (I can't put the link because it says I have to have over 15 posts) about installing flash

I download the YUM file option then type into terminal what the above wiki tells me to and it says that the file couldn't be found. I've retyped it many times and checked many times but still can't get it to work.

Thanks for the help and remember im a complete noob so try to keep things simple.

Since it says the file can't be found, you're probably not pointing it to the right place. Where did you download the file to? Use the full path to the file to install, so if it is in your Downloads folder for example you could do
    Code:
    su -
    rpm -Uvh /home/username/Downloads/adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm
Replace username with your username of course.

Fedora 9 is pretty old and no longer supported. You may want to move up to a supported release.

I totally agree with reed9. You might be able to enjoy fedora more if you choose to install a newer release like 13 or 14. imho

    Welcome to the forums!

If YUM fails to work properly, another Flash install method is to simply download and extract the flash tarball and then move or copy the resulting .so file to the plugins folder of your browser. It results in a simple and clean install and is easy to remove.
