    Acer Revo with Linux

Not sure if people have seen them, but Acer are currently selling Micro PCs, the Revo, in 3 versions - one with Linux (the cheapest) and two with windows.

I am new to the forum and new to the world of Linux (though I have to say I agree with the principle of not paying extortionate prices for software, and use firefox).

I want a Revo to use as a media centre with which to stream HD video from sites such as BBC, ITV and youtube, using a wireless keyboard with rollerball (if they still sell these). What I want to know is how Linpus Linux stacks up as an OS for this purpose and what else I would need to install (and thus whether it would be worthwhile using linux or sticking with that I know, Windows, which would be a pre-made package for the purpose, but I know is a huge, bulky piece of software). I have seen advice on here to remove Linpus and install a different version of Linux.

I also want to use the Revo to browse the internet and play music on itunes from a remote network storage device.

Ordinarily, I'd simply choose the windows version of the machine, but I know it has downfalls in the performance stakes, especially when HD video is concerned on lower-specced machines (in my experience). And I wouldnt mind getting into Linux - as I said earlier, I agree with the principles behind it, though I appreciate a higher level of technical knowledge may be nessecary to get it set up!

Any advice is welcome! I have a PC running windows vista (soon to be win7) and a laptop running vista also (again, win7 is on its way to the laptop).

Go for it!! Buy the Linux machine and enjoy. You don't say what distro it comes with, but since linux is free, you can always go to distrowatch.com, download and try different distros to see which one you like best.
