Hello and Welcome.
You can use this quiz to help you decide which distro (Linux) is right for you. Your system specs look okay to me and usually the only thing you will need drivers for is the Graphics card and Wireless cards. Most distros will be what is called a LiveCD which allows you to boot Linux from the CD without having to install it to the hard drive. This will allow you to see if you like it or not and whether it will support your hardware.

Most drivers are already included within the Linux kernel. You might have to install proprietary drivers if you want to use them, such as certain video and/or wireless internet drivers. They can usually be found in various repositories for your distro, or on the hardware maker's website.
I'm not a gamer so can't speak on how well they'll run under Linux.oz

If you pick Ubuntu, Mint, or one of the other ubuntu derivitives, Synaptic Package Manager is how you will get additional programs, drivers, etc. Have fun and enjoy! Some gamers like to dual boot windows and Linux to play ceertain games.
A good source of linux distro information is Distrowatch.com. You can google linux specific questions at <Linux> - Google Search.Registered Linux user #526930
