Resolution Problems
This is my first post. I have ubuntu 10.10 newly installed on my machine and have been exploring everything. I'm new to linux and have heard about it for years so now I'm giving it a test drive. The problem is while playing around I've done something to the screen resolution. Everything is bigger even the login box after booting. When I open anything up it's to big to see all of the selections. How do I readjust the resolution back to normal? The only thing I did this morning was download a nvidia driver for 3d to work. Thanks

It sounds to me that when you installed your Nvidia drivers, the resolution got changed to something smaller...
You can go to System > Administration > NVIDIA X Server Settings
It should ask you for your password. Enter the password, and then Nvidia's X Server Settings window should open.
Click on X Server Display Configuration
You should now see where you can adjust the screen resolution.
Remember to "Save to X Configuration File" before exiting.
If you're not prompted for a password either when first opening the app, or when saving to the X Configuration file, simply open the app from terminal using the following command:
Hope that helps.Code:gksudo nvidia-settings

Also just try holding down ctrl and alt and then tapping keypad+ a few times to see if it gives you a sensible resolution at some point.
