I'll assume that you're using ubuntu as this is a known ubuntu-bug (since 9.04, googling revelead that Inspiron 1521 features a Broadcom wlan card)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/197558
Can you confirm this by running the following snippet in a shell (no return means that the laptop has another wireless card):
A workaround for this can be found in the following blog (untested): https://gostewarts.wordpress.com/200...r-ubuntu-9-04/Code:lspci -nn|grep 4328
Now, I'm afraid that this is a fair amount of work, but don't let that stop you

Any luck on this? I'm using Peppermint as my OS, but have successfully used Ubuntu, Fedora, and Mint on the same wireless card. You have to use a wired connection for downloading the driver and reboot.
