New to Arch Linux
Hi. I am relatively new to Linux and only switched from using Windows to Ubuntu a few months ago. Now I would like to start using Arch Linux; however, I am not very a very knowledgeable user. I have tried playing around with the command line, using Conkeror, and trying EMACS in order to help learn enough to use Arch Linux, but I would be surprised if I am proficient enough yet to know what to do when I boot up Arch Linux and am greeted with a blank command screen. I have started reading the manual on installing Arch Linux and watched a couple Youtube videos. Does anyone have any advice for what I can do to be "ready" to use Arch? I would appreciate any recommendations for books, links, or other resources that might be helpful.
Also, I believe Archbang is supposed to be a little simpler to understand than Arch. I was planning on downloading it and practice getting use to that first. Do you think that would be a good idea? Thanks

Hello and welcome!

I don't think you'll find much better help than what can be found in the Arch wiki:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Main_Page
The Beginners Guide (also found in the wiki) has helped countless new users get Arch installed, up and running:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners%27_Guide
Best of luck to you with it.oz

You can check out the Archbang videos on youtube. I see some people say Archbang is just a bloated version of Arch but really it uses a smal lightweight windows manager.
At least for you training purpose that will be a good choice.
In fact I have downloaded a few Archbang videos myself to watch, maybe I also start with Archbang before diving into the deep end of the pool.
