want change my OS from windows 7 to linux
Hi Folks,
I am new to linux and know nothing about it,and want change my OS from windows 7 to linux,can you tell me as it is really very hard to understand the terms of linuxlike BIN,TAR etc.....
i have AMD athelon 3600+
MSI mainboard which supports DDR2 RAM
200GBs SATA HDD with two partitions,
how to start it.....is it confusing?is it better than Windows?i want to use it i really do,please help me.........i am already downloading Sabayon_Linux_5.4_amd64_XFCE.iso.
is it suitable for my configuration?tell me if i need to download any mainboard drivers for it............
please help me...........

You should not need to download anything but a "Distro" which is just a version or flavor of GNU/Linux....Sabayon is a fine distro and includes many wonderful tools and programs. It should run fine on your hardware too. The important thing to remember here is that you need to burn the ISO properly and here is a link to follow. Pay attention to the "HowTo: Download / Burn Linux ISO Files to CD/DVD" part but there is a lot of good, useful and up to date material.

Once you get it installed then you can slowly learn other things like .bin files and .tar file, etc, etc.....patience is extremely important.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

When you install, you'll be asked if you want to install Linux alongside Windows. My advice is to do this. Then for a while you can boot either OS and you won't have to be afraid of being cut off from the Internet or being unable to play some game. When you feel confident enough with LInux, you can get rid of Windows.

If I were you I would get the most current ubuntu cd and use a live version for a week before I commit.
