Damsel in distress
Hey all,
I've previously used this forum for help with my Netbook, which was brilliant, but now I'm all set to switch my PC over, but I don't feel confident enough to do it without some help!
I have a Dell, which I have kept on Windows XP as I did not get on with Vista, or 7. I want to run Linux on it, Ubuntu to start with, but I'm not 100% sure to go about this.
My biggest problem is that I've read a lot of confusing advice about running an ipod with Linux.
If anyone has any advice or even how-to's that I've missed, I'd be very grateful. I feel like a bit of a stupid girl asking for help at the first hurdle!Last edited by BeckyAndTheJets; 01-30-2011 at 12:54 PM.

Ipods will work with Linux for the most part. Use a program called GTKPod.
gtkpod iPod Manager
It's available in most repos so you shouldn't have any problems installing it.I do not respond to private messages asking for Linux help, Please keep it on the forums only.

Wow, is it really that simple? I've heard about using dual boot but if this is a much easier option I may well go for it.

Dual boot is the way to go for most newbies. That way you still have Windows when you feel lost or unable to do something in Linux.
