Quick question about recovering with Puppy Linux.
Hey guys,
I've recently had Windows mess up on me due to a bad service pack install. I've decided to switch to openSUSE, as I hear it's great for laptops. I am trying to recover some files before hand. I've read Puppy Linux is good for this but I just have one quick concern. is it possible to boot Puppy Linux with my thumb drive and then save what files I want to recover to that very same thumbdrive? my problem being that my disc drive no longer works, so booting from USB drive is my only option.
Better yet, if there is any way of doing this with Knoppix (what I am currently using from USB drive) that'd save a bit of time. if someone could just explain where on the thumbdrive I'd want to save so I know where to find them from on my other computer, that'd be great.
Thanks.

Just save in /home folder anything you have in windows on Knoppix or Puppy. You can use either distro for what you want to accomplish.
Edit. Not sure about Knoppix saving changes on live USB, I use AntiX persistent USB and Puppy Persistent USB to save data like you want to do.
