I'm new to Linux, and want to build a system for openSuse 11.3 on Friday. I plan to buy everything then. I'm using Ubuntu now on my laptop.

My question is what do you think of the P4 prescott e series 800 mhz FSB as a processor for openSuse. Offer other processors if they will do a good job.

Everything depends on your needs from this machine. Any linux is tunable (enabling/disabling running services, managing kernel modules or just recompiling the kernel). I use openSuse 11.3 on my laptop (Celeron 1.5 Ghz dual-core), and it feels good, but I also tuned it by myself. You can't predict behaviour of your system if you just do not try to install and run it
