Need a nvidia card that is simple to install, ubuntu10.10
I have been looking in ebay and it looks like I can buy any Nvideo Card I want. So Im looking for something that is inexpensive But it has to be easily installed as far as the drivers are concerned . Ideally just install it and it can be recognised and drivers installed and set up. It probably is asking for to much but Im new to linux and Ive read a few descriptions of installing drivers and I dont have a clue. My old Via/s3g is freezing the screen. I need very little when it comes to a video card, I dont do games, I watch some you tube . So simple and inexpensive is the word.

Hello and welcome to the forums!
The Geforce 7, 8, and 9 series cards should work fine if you don't need high powered graphics. They should install easily and the drivers for them are common place under Linux. Just make sure the model you purchase isn't too long to fit into the case and it has the proper slot waiting for it on the motherboard.
I've personally had good luck with EVGA, Gigabyte, and XFX brand video cards.oz

I second Ozar's recommendations. I have had better success with Nvidia in linux than I have had with ATI. Generally, under Ubuntu, the driver is installed with a couple of clicks via the non-free hardware wizard. If you experience problems with the Ubuntu drives, it is fairly easy to download the driver from Nvidia's website and install it.
Let us know how you get on!

It should be under the preferences or administration menu. I'm not on my ubu install, so I can't verify if that's the exact name. Take a look around in your menus, it is there if you have Ubu 10.10...

Nope. It might be called, "additional drivers" or "restricted drivers" I can't remember...I'm out of town at the moment, and don't have access to Ubuntu, otherwise I would give the answer straight away.
