HOWTO old webcam 06a5:d800 Chicony TwinkleCam
Hi,
I am unsure if this should be a distro question or plain newbie, so I am asking here.
I have an old webcam, Chicony TwinkleCam, which I would like to use in linux.
Here is some system output about the situation:
$ uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.33.7-pclos6.bfs #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Oct 21 22:42:28 CDT 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
$ lsusb

Bus 005 Device 002: ID 05e3:0608 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB-2.0 4-Port HUB
Bus 005 Device 006: ID 06a5:d800 Divio Chicony TwinkleCam
$ dmesg|tail
usb 5-1.2: new full speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 6
usb 5-1.2: New USB device found, idVendor=06a5, idProduct=d800
usb 5-1.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=0
I looked for information online and found two types of pages -
A) people asking but getting no response
B) people having long discussions of compilations and linux internals.
Is there any "newbie" information, HOWTO, etc, to teach me
what needs to be done to use this device? I am not in the class of
users who can do all that really complicated stuff - that is why I post
in this forum
Thank you for any help!

This is the place to go for webcam support if yours isn't supported out-of-the-box. Note that the Chicony TwinkleCam is listed as supported.
