Which type of network is good Ldap Or ssh??. For centralized data.
Hi,
I am working in small company, company stength is 70 In which 30 users are in 2003 server and client environment and other 40 are just in Lan I mean in work group. So I want to implement linux server particularly centos and client ubuntu. My question is whether I should implement Ldap or just use ssh to take backup.
Thanks and Regards,

ehm..
What?
ldap is a hierarchical database,
ssh is mainly a secure way for an interactive shell.
What type of data do you want to backup?Last edited by Irithori; 07-15-2011 at 08:42 AM.

I want centralised data(home directory) for all the user.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
In my current testing environment I am taking backup by using ssh. So I want the centralized data of all the user at one place for eg home directory and desktop data. When I implemented Ldap server and client, The client desktop data are not stored on server. Like in windows server when we implement roaming profile all user data are stored on server like that iI want to implement LDAP so that all the user data are saved at one place so that it will be easy for me to take backup are all the user data. So my question is, Is it possible by using LDAP one copy all data of the user are saved on linux server ?
Thanks in advance for helping me

I don't know what hardware you are running, but the Linux Terminal Server Project may be of interest as a way of centralising things.

My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.
