I've done some quick Googling and found this thread:
New Acer notebook with linpus linux won't boot!!!
Apparently Linpus does not support a graphical user interface (GUI). Linpus will only give you a commandline, which can be difficult to use for new users, and which will prevent you from running a modern web browser or anything like that.
From my quick research, it sounds like you're best off installing a new version of Linux. I particularly recommend Ubuntu for new users, which you can find at:

Go to distrowatch.com and look on the right side of the page. You will find the top 100 downloads. Click on a few of the top ones, and select the distro that appeals to you to download and try as a live cd. A live cd lets you use the distro from the cd without installing until you decide if you want to keep it or not. If you like the distro, install it, if not, burn a different cd and try that distro.

Linpus does have a GUI, it's just very "Fisher Price" and a not very good version of Linux that came with a completely borked install on many Acers.

MeeGo 1.2 Netbook edition has just got a very good review in Linux Format although I have never tried it myself. If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate! (Zapp Brannigan)
My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

Another good netbook distro is easypeasy, though I slightly prefer Ubuntu netbook remix.
