Hello. I am new to this stuff so sorry if this is a bad question.

I am trying to run a live cd of Knoppix in vmware player. I would like to install vmware tools, so I go to Virtual Machine and then "Install VMware Tools." I belive the linux.iso mounts but when I go to /cdrom where it says it's mounted, the only file I see is something like this: ???e?]?]n?e?????ze???f?cy??+....

Am I doing something wrong? Are the VMware tools not meant to be installed with a live cd?
