    Recompile for NTFS?I


    Do I have to recompile the kernel for NTFS support? Mounting didn't do the trick

    [root@rhl01 root]# mount -t ntfs /dev/hda6 /mnt/windows
    mount: fs type ntfs not supported by kernel

    Check if you have the modules first.

    modprobe ntfs

    I don't have them

    modprobe: Can't locate module ntfs

    Is it easy to install this module? I don't wanna recompile until I am a bit more familiar with Red Hat

    Well, having compiled a new kernel myself, it's not the easiest process. What version of distro are you using? NTFS support is usually enabled these days.

    If you dont feel like compiling a kernel I am sure there are rpms for Red Hat.

    I checked rpmfind.net and didn't see anything for NTFS for Redhat. Does Redhat have a ftp site where you can download these? I assume that it'll be loadable as module.
