Utility OS
Hello,
I don't know if I need to be in the Newbe section, but I am no expert in linux.
Mainly I want to compile an OS that I can use at my repair facility (where I work as a technician) that I can use to diagnose, repair, mess with (joke) the computers we work on. Mainly is windows, some Macs, and very few actual linux.
Ultimately, I would LOVE an OS like this:
Boots from USB
Loads on Ramdisk, requiring a maximum of 256MB
Utilities for Windows PW removal
HD scanner that tests latency for each block (Like MHDD or HDDScan), as well as S.M.A.R.T. errors.
Ability to read HFS+ partitions, rw
Support for almost every Ethernet/WiFi/video card in existence
Symantec Ghost creator/explorer
Probably more to come.
On a second note, How could I install and update applications to this drive easily, but still letting it boot to ram disk. (Having a master system, installed to a hard drive, and dd the image over to update syslinux?)
I have a program (YUMI) That hopefully can put the bootable iso or img to flash drive that can boot.
Any help is already appreciated.
Thanks

Haha thank you very much.
I have actually looked into that OS, and it works great. I am just having trouble installing software, and finding a MHDD like program.
Any help on installing softwares would help.
(i have put a .tar.bz2 in the pmodules folder, (renamed to .txz,) and nothing happened.)
