    Please add more context.
    - What is the vm host OS,
    - What is the vm guest
    - Which network mode are you using( nat, bridge, host only)
    - What IP/hostname is asked for? hostname, dns server, default gw,etc ?
    - How does your network look like
    - etc
You must always face the curtain with a bow.

Does it say what it wants them for? Is this for its own network settings? If it's for its own config, then you need to select values that are in line with the network policy in place where you're installing this.

If you're installing this at home, then consider setting up your guest OS with NAT or Host Only - this way the VM will share your host machines network settings and it should all take place transparently.

I am new to this but who hasnt been, but I am not familier with the mode question and
it asks for the host name or the IP address of the view connection server.

Ahh, this is the first screen before you get to see any of your VM's? It's asking for the hostname or IP address of the machine that the VMs are running on. Usually this is localhost, unless you've got your VMs installed on another machine.

Most of the time, you can just go with a default entry... so just hit <Enter>
