Personalize VIM
Curious as to how you would "personalize" VIM...
I know how to enable syntax, change terminal coloration, show line numbers, but I don't want to have to type those commands in every time. Is there a particular folder in which you can create a file to automatically use these settings?

Yes. Put a .vimrc file in your home directory.
