Post Problem with Restarting Scientific Linux (2.6.32-279.5.1.el6.i686).

    Dear Linux Forum,

I recently started using Scientific Linux and absolutely love the world of Linux but there is a lot to learn. I was wondering where I could find out how kernel handles rebooting if that question makes sense (which script or file)?

For example, my default boot OS was Scientific Linux (2.6.32-279.5.1.el6.i686) and with this one the Restart button would not work meaning that the computer would never restart just hang in "restarting". I have changed the default boot to Scientific Linux (2.6.32-279.el6.i686) and Restart started to work.

Where would this "Restart" process be defined and possibly adjusted?

    Looking forward to your replies.

Thanks for that. I will compare the reboot argument in both kernels and see where the difference is.
