    Cannot get AWN started

    I am running Zorin. I wanted to start AWN (Avant Window Navigator) but cannot find the darn thing. It is installed and I do have a folder in /usr/lib/awn, but that does not help me. None of the folders can be opened.

    I found some instructions on the web for Ubuntu. But those don't apply in Zorin because the setup is different. Is there a Zorin specialist who can help?

    Open a terminal and type in

    Code:
    awn &
    You know I don't run Zorin so I don't know what window manager or desktop environment it uses .

    There is startup file or something or other in Zorin that needs awn added to the startup. In fluxbox which I am on right now. It is in ~/.fluxbox/startup

    example

    Code:
    # Run conky regardless of desktop
    sleep 10 && conky &
    sleep 10 && awn &
    # And last but not least we start fluxbox.
    # Because it is the last app you have to run it with ''exec'' before it.

    exec /usr/bin/fluxbox
    # or if you want to keep a log:
    # exec /usr/bin/fluxbox -log ~/.fluxbox/log
    Just posting a example command if I wanted awn to start up in fluxbox, (I don't use awn or any dock in this install)

    Code:
    which awn
    shows the full path to launching awn also.

    Thank you for your input. But those commands don't work. Even just 'awn &' yields nothing. This is what I get:

    whsz@whsz-virtual-machine:~$ awn &
    [1] 6686
    whsz@whsz-virtual-machine:~$ No command 'awn' found, did you mean:
    Command 'wn' from package 'wordnet' (universe)
    Command 'an' from package 'an' (universe)
    Command 'awk' from package 'gawk' (main)
    Command 'awk' from package 'mawk' (main)
    Command 'awk' from package 'original-awk' (universe)
    awn: command not found
    And I have similar luck with the other commands. I do know where the startup folder is. Problem is that I can't find the darn AWN. All I have is this AWN folder with 14 Applets:

    2013-02-23_1220.jpg

    Do you see anything in there that could help. If those were Windows folders, I would know what they are. But here< I am completely lost.

    Well those are the applets/launchers for the dock in awn that were drew in during your install

    you get nothing with

    Code:
    harry@biker:~
    $ which gimp
    /usr/bin/gimp
    harry@biker:~
    $ which iceweasel
    /usr/bin/iceweasel
    harry@biker:~
    $ which xmms
    /usr/bin/xmms
    harry@biker:~
    Hmmmmm. How about try this. Install mlocate if not installed in Zorin already.

    Code:
     apt-cache policy mlocate
    mlocate:
      Installed: 0.23.1-1
      Candidate: 0.23.1-1
      Version table:
     *** 0.23.1-1 0
            500 http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ testing/main amd64 Packages
            100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install mlocate
    it is a small install. When done

    Code:
    sudo updatedb
    That updates the data base for the next command in mlocate. Takes a few minutes so wait with terminal minimised for about 5 to 6 minutes and look to see it complete. You will have a $ command
    prompt again when it finishes. Nothing will show while updatedb is updating. When done

    Code:
    locate awn
    Show what that spits out. example

    Code:
    $ locate xmms
    /etc/skel/.xmms
    /etc/skel/.xmms/Plugins
    /etc/skel/.xmms/config
    /etc/skel/.xmms/menurc

    With 'locate Awn' I get more than I asked for -> 9 Word pages full. I don't want to inondate the forum with all that. What would I be looking for? This is just the first page:

    whsz@whsz-virtual-machine:~$ locate awn
    /home/whsz/.config/awn
    /home/whsz/.config/awn/applets
