    Sharing an NTFS partition

    I'm trying to share an NTFS partition. I have ntfs-3g installed. Here's my fstab:
    #Entry for /dev/sda4 :
    UUID=3e6d05ef-3890-4273-a4bd-6f33302b1823	/	ext4	errors=remount-ro	0	1
    #Entry for /dev/sda2 :
    UUID=01CE5732E73F7500	/media/spencerw/C	ntfs-3g	default		0	0
    #Entry for /dev/sdb1 :
    UUID=06A4F97CA4F96E95	/media/spencerw/D	ntfs-3g	default		0	0
    #Entry for /dev/sda5 :
    UUID=a9b2fe81-0dda-41f0-8d6a-7a07a1ce89d2	none	swap	sw	0	0
    The partition I want to share is /dev/sdb1

    Here's what I've added to my smb.conf:
    usershare owner only = False
    workgroup = WORKGROUP
    	path = /media/spencerw/D/
    	writeable = yes
    	read only = no
    	guest ok = yes
    When I try to access the share, I get:
    Failed to mount Windows share
    Been at this all evening. Any help greatly appreciated.

    How are you mounting the /dev/sdb1. In other words, are you mounting it in /etc/fstab, or relying on automatic mounting, Try to use ntfs-config to configure automount for that partition, I hope it will work for you.

    Hi, I'm able to automout the NTFS partition successfully with fstab. The issue I have is sharing the partition.

    I can be found either 40 miles west of Chicago, in Chicago, or in a galaxy far, far away.
    What are you using to share it - samba or NFS?

    The problem I had was the location I was auto-mounting the partition to; /media/spencerw/D. The directory /media/spencerw has permissions such that all sub folders are --- for 'other' users. Simply changing the mount point and then updating smb.conf accordingly fixed the issue.
