I've never used Arch Linux but on many Linux distributions, a pen drive will be auto-mounted in the /media directory. What is on the pen drive? What type of data? which filesystem type?

I've used Arch and several other distros. I never had any trouble with either of my pendrives. Even if it isn't mounted automatically, the kernel should recognise it. Check using dmesg; it should report the vendor and model, and assign it a device - /dev/sdb or a higher letter depending on which usb socket it's plugged into.
