email monitoring tool to monitor backups query

    Hey guys,

first time poster. Just looking for a lightweight linux distro with a too to monitor incoming mails from automated backups. We primarily run a windows environment (I know, boo hiss ) and I need to monitor the backups. The most solid way of doing this is through the monitoring of daily incoming mails. I know on the windows environment a tool called prtg could do it but I was wondering if linux had something easy to setup that could monitor my mails for key words, at given times, then send me a report of what was supposed to come in as opposed to what has come in? I would probably set it up with imap settings on my google email to monitor as an FYI there...
