    Ubuntu 14.04 was just released, so maybe that will have the drivers you need included.

    I wondered if it was a more basic problem, did Ken check his Ubuntu and Linux Mint downloads matched the published MD5 figure?

    If they don't then the downloaded ISO is corrupt and you can expect major problems when you try to install from it. My opinion is to always download ISO files via torrent.
