starting redhat 7.3 in command line
Hi
I have linux installed on virtual machine of VMWARE. By default it starts in GUI mode but i want to start it in command line. How can i do that?
My second question is that in linux how can i change keyboard setting as it is not taking pipe sign (|)?
I am newbie so please accept my ignorance.

To make it boot into text mode, edit your /etc/inittab, find the initdefault line, and change 5 to 3, to boot into runlevel 3 instead of runlevel 5.
Are you sure that the pipe problem is in Linux and not in vmware? What happens when you press the pipe key?
