    works for me.
linux as a desktop system will not benefit from even more users.

also: 99% of all operating system users (computer, phone, etc.) have never installed it themselves.
so the real question is not windows vs. linux, it's: do you dare to open the box and take control?

    anyhow:
    Linux is NOT Windows

Yip, that's exactly it. So many people complain about not having the ability to change things on a locked-down OS (Windows, Mac etc.), but when they get the chance to change, they shy away from the "work" involved, esp. if there isn't a GUI for the tool they need. Windows aside, I've had a few discussions like this with Mac users who are not aware of the underlying OS, and the ability to pop open a terminal.

IMHO it's not a case of Linux/Windows/Mac/Solaris/etc. etc. being *better*, it's about being different. Pick the one you like and roll with it, without hassling people on a forum about the emotional issues.

    Guys, please don't fight.

OP: I love BodhiLinux myself - sounds like that's what you're wanting, it's really great! But NOT XFCE though.... There is a version that's "barebones" and there's an AppPack version with all the stuff people need.
