    Copy and Paste


    How do i paste into a bash shell without a mouse. Is there anyway i can use a k/b shortcut to paste commands in

    I have tried ctrl+v is there something i am missing.

    Also as a little side note, on an american k/b where it the \ key??

    the '\' key is right above the enter button.

    and as for copy paste, which terminal are you in? or are you in an actual text console?

    i am in a text bash shell, and i have a UK keyboard but i think it is missing some keys compared to the american keyboard :S

    All the screen says is - console

    According to this picture, on a UK keyboard the / key is just below the ? on the same key. The | or "pipe" used commonly for BASH commands is on the left hand side just next to the left SHIFT key.

    i know where it is on a UK keyboard, i got one, but my liveCD forces me into an US setup and there is nothing i can do about it, so i sorta need to know where the \ key on the US keyboards

    At home I have 4 different keyboards and the \-| key is in 3 different places:
    One is above the enter key
    one is to the left of the backspace key
    Can't recall the third, but it's in that same area.

    Is there any way to do an ascii escape sequence to get the same effect? IIRC, used to be in M$ you could do something like 'hold the ctrl-alt keys and enter the 3-digit ascii code corresponding to the character'. Just a thought.
