    NIS Problams

    Hi,

I'm new to NIS. I was able setup the server and the client. I'm able to login from a client without any problem. However when do a yppasswd on the master i get the following error:
yppasswd: can't find the master ypserver: Internal NIS error
When login as root (to the master) and type yppasswd username it works.
    What does this error mean?
    (I've already started yppasswdd)

    Thanks.

You're not supposed to use yppasswd on the master. On the master, you should simply use passwd. yppasswd is for use on the client(s), since they must use a NIS RPC to update the password. It shouldn't work at all on the master, since the master isn't set up as a client of itself.
