Linux Active Sync for Pocket PC syncing

Is there a KDE app ( not KPilot ) for syncing Windows Mobile 2003 PDA with Linux ?

I have tried looking for that too,... but have no luck... keep looking... i wish someone will write on this matter somewhere.

There is no KDE tool that I'm aware of, but there is a command line tool called synce to synchronize windows CE PDA with Linux.

Ain't too easy for newbies, I suggest you go read the doc since they have a step-by-step instructions.

Unfortunately, the synce project does not appear to actually do any sort of "sync"-ing. There is another project, kitchensync that does that.

I have been able to get a veresion of kitchensync to complie and run, but I can't get any useful "konnectors" to run. Konnectors appear to be modules that allow you to actually do the synchoronization.

I'm in somewhat desparate need of this... anybody out there have a working solution? I'd most appreciate it!

myltisync is a great tool, but its usefulness is a bit limited. I can get it to connect to the pocket pc, but I can't get it to connect to a desktop PIM tool.

I'm trying to sync with a desktop tool. While multisync claims to have support for evolution, it is a little bit ambiguous whether or not it works with the version that Fedora Core 3 put on my computer. There are conflicting reports out there (I don't remember which sites, sorry). Anyway, I can't get it to work with evolution.

The multisync web site claims to have support for the kde addressbook. While that is great, I was unable to find a tool that works with the other kde PIM stuff.

I have the same problem with thunderbird, but I think there is a solution with multisync. http://multisync.sourceforge.net mentions LDAP support. Most decent email clients these days support LDAP. So an LDAP server could be setup (pretty handy for syncing with your home computer over the internet) or just use ldiff exports to transfer data as files. I'm off to give it a go....

I have a bit of a workaround for this problem.

I can do a one way dump from the pocket_pc to KDE. I haven't figured out how to do the other direction yet.

If I do a copmlete back up from the pocket_pc using multisync (http://multisync.sourceforge.net/news.php), I get a bunch of what look like VCALENDAR files in the backup directory. Here is an example of one of the multisync files:

I took all those files, from the latest complete backup, and concatenated them into 1 file, with VCALENDAR tags around the contents (see below), I was able to get the KDE PIM tool Kontact to open it up and view it.

It seems to work reliably so far. I have to use the GUI to import/view the file I've created, however. (can use merge, or add an alternate calendar file) The command line tool konsolekalendar doesn't seem to work for some reason. It would still be nice to do the bi-directional sync-ing.

Anybody have any ideas?

i did get active sync to work with wine. however right after that i found an extremely effective way of dealing with the problem

lol. be sure to pack up ur old microsucks files (not just the files an actual image of you ppc) before you try installing linux on your ppc just incase you want to sell it. id never put it back on there for any thing else. linux is so freaken awesome

Since there seems an increasing migration to Linux in general regardless of the distro used, it seems that there is an increasing need for a syncronization app that addresses the windows CE platform as well as the windows mobile platform. Something along the lines of Active sync.
I am greatly surprised that something like that has not yet made it's appearance.
Since the need to sync with the Palm OS has been around for a good long time.
