    Write Java code in Linux


    hi all please i need to know where i can write a java code to be compiled i mean what is the thing that's like notepad in windows and what is its name and how to compile the Java code in Linux is it by using gcc as with C/C++ files or how also how to start writing a shell in linux thanks all

    If you're looking for an IDE, I use NetBeans and it's great. If you just want to use a text editor and compile from command line, though, you'll just use javac (I think).

    either vi or emacs is a good editor for writing java imo.

    javac is probably your best bet at compiling it
