You can learn a bit about the C libary here -> http://www.gnu.org/software/libc/libc.html , And you should install it obviously Wine is dependant on it.
And more here info -> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...=Google+Search
I'm surprised that Wine installed, as it appears to be, as Ol Man says, dependent on Glibc.
As to why you don't have this on your Linux. You may find that you have a Glibc library with a different number (ie. version). You will occasionally come across these. Sometimes (but not always) you can side step the problem by making a logical/symbolic link to the library that you have ('ln library-you-have library-you-need -s').
What you also find is that you won't be the first to bump into a problem, so give http://www.google.com/linux or http://www.linuxquestions.org a try. Or, of course, come this this site and someone will try to help you.
