    You'll probably need drivers if it doesn't work already. What model is your ethernet card? Is it cable or DSL?

    my card is built in my mobo,its a Asrock k7vm2.and i have cable internet

    Does your cable modem have an ethernet connection or usb?

    The BEST way to solve OS problems, is to buy a router ( www.linksys.com are the best ones ) this not only is a hardware firewall, and gives you the ability for more than one pc. BUT you can use any os. because your connected to a router, and it configs everything, your internet will work right away
