    nvidia drivers


    im a complete newbie to linux....well not a complete newbie i managed to get it installed and installed my modem my question is how do I update my graphics drivers for my Nvidia GeForce 4 ti graphics card? the site gives 3 drivers which one do i download and how will i install it?

    thankx in advance for any help

    I know what he's talking about. Here's the list and what they correspond to

    Linux IA32 = Intel Architecture 32 Bit
    Linux IA64 = Intel Architecture 64 Bit
    Linux AMD64 = AMD Architecture 64 Bit

    Basically, Any of the Pentiums of mobile process from Intel are IA32. Xeon and other 64 bit, mainly server, processors are IA64. AMD 64 Bit would be AMD64. I'm not sure what and AMD 32 Bit processor would be but, there you go.

    amd 32bit prcessors are i386 compatible, so you would get the Linux IA32 for that one aswell

    k i have an AMD Athelon XP 2200+ processor so which one do I download?

    I want to update my drivers too. I have the IA32 (for Athlon 1.333) But it seems a daunting task to install them for a newbie like myself.

    [silly question]Why isn't there a proper installer like you get with windows?[/sillyquestion]

    it's really not that hard. First, go through the install of the actual drivers. Then, if you want, you could post your XF86Config file here and we could tell you what you need to change to use the new drivers.

    ok i just downloaded the file and ran it. it installed the drivers and said i need to change my XF86Config file i dont know how to do this here it is if any one could help
