    Gnome question?

Hey all...I started using Mepis recently and I really think this'll be my system for a few but I'd love to have Gnome as an option. I'm quiet new to the world of LInux so anything that can help me load and run this package would just rule.

    Thanks

Are you installing mepis on your harddrive or just want a live-cd? If you want a live-cd I'm sure cofeemonsters link would rule, but if you want it on your harddrive, there are lots of different distros you could try. You can install gnome on mepis, but I don't know how that would work... Ubuntu is a debian-based distro using gnome by default, and is on top of the distrowatch-lists.

If you want to know about the config-utils etc in the different distros, look at the links here: http://shots.osdir.com

Here is the link for ubuntu 5: http://shots.osdir.com/slideshows/sl...e=305&slide=63

I just stuck ProMepis on my spare box again last night and Gnome is included as well as other desktops.. DId Gnome not come with your version of Mepis then? I had the 2005.b04 download which definitely has got Gnome/KDE & others.
