I'm building a computer to dual boot W2k and Linux. I plan on the configuration below. I do photoshop, illustrator and wav editing mostly. Don't game. Is there anything here that sounds any alarms?

if you are going to be doing a lot of photo editing and graphic things you may want to look into a card that has a little more ram on it. The rest of your system looks pretty sweet though.

The 7200.8 can be purchased in SATA or Ultra ATA modes.

Thank you all. I've been away.

1badex96: I went with a Matrox 650 with 64 meg. I don't game, and matrox is reputed to have the best 2D picture, which is important to me. I run linux, too, so ATI is problematic, and nVidia hasn't a good 2D rep, as far as I can tell. I know 64 meg doesn't sound like much these days, but it doesn't have to move, it just has to be sharp.

the_guy_dressed_in_black and retired1af: the Seagates are SATA. The plextor, which is now a 716 is IDE since I've got my two SATA ports full.

Many thanks for answering. My response was not quick, I drift.

Gee, I guess it's kind of obvious I run Linux, isn't it?
