    Did you try "linux text"?

When you first boot up with the cd, before you hit ENTER to start the install process, type "linux text".

That will allow you to install in text mode, you just won't get the pretty graphics, but you can't see those anyway.
Then you can setup your video card and monitor during the install process.

It should have asked you for the next cd.

How far into the installation does it get?

Does it actually start installing packages.
