oookay. I reinstalled GLut, did the symbolic link in the right direction, recompiled karamba, and still get the same error....

hm. well, this might have something to do with it:
"/usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.la broken symbolic link to '/usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.la'"

It's a symlink to itself?
Just reinstall x11/glut/opengl/whatever, and don't do the symlink.
