    ive gone through the same thing. we ended up getting sattelite b/band with has a 500mb download limit and costs $50 a month.

    i cant win.. and neither can you techieMoe. at least you can get unlimited for a small price.. we have to pay a ton.

    Ouch! I am in a house of 5 and I can use 3GB a month of bandwidth (my share of the 15GB monthly limit) and I get digital cable for $20/month.

    Don't despair Weedman, I read in the paper recently that the Tasmanian government is trialing some sort of fibre to home network down there. According to the report they expect download speends of 100MBit/sec for end users. They don't say how much it is going to cost or anything. Damm I wished Telstra or someone could bring comparable speeds to Sydney at affordable prices.

    Well, this might sound a little extreme but a good friend of me, lives halve a year in Bolivia and is using a satallite connection over there.

    I know this is rather hard to use, but if don't have any other options, this could be good for you...

    for gentoo, i just checked with porthole (portage frontend) and it says there are 10435 packages available. not bad

    Yes, I've looked at satellite internet (we can only get satellite TV where I'm at as well, no cable), but the price is just too prohibitive.
